Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Eagle Lake 360 collects, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Effective August 7, 2026

Overview

Eagle Lake 360 is an independent interactive map and geography game. You may explore the public map and play Eagle Lake Guessr without an account. An account is optional and adds saved favorites, game history, statistics, streaks, profile features, and leaderboard participation.

Information we collect

Account information

If you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, username, and authentication information. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are not available to Eagle Lake 360 in plain text.

Profile photos and moderation

If you choose to upload a profile photo, a processed version of the image is sent to Google Cloud Vision for automated SafeSearch screening. We store the approved profile photo and moderation results, such as content-likelihood ratings and whether the upload was approved or rejected. Rejected image files are not retained by Eagle Lake 360.

Gameplay and account activity

For signed-in players, we store game modes and settings, locations presented, guesses, distances, scores, timeouts, completion status, timestamps, statistics, streaks, leaderboard results, favorites, and account preferences. If you submit a location report, we store the location, report category, optional comment or suggestion, submission source, account details, status, and timestamps.

Site analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to measure anonymous, aggregate site traffic such as page views, referral sources, general geographic region, browser, operating system, and device type. Vercel Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies or associate this information with your Eagle Lake 360 account.

Map-view analytics

When view tracking is enabled, we count qualified panorama views separately for the public map and the game. These are aggregate counts, not a permanent per-view history tied to your account. A short-lived first-party cookie remembers recent panorama and source combinations for 30 minutes so repeated loads are not counted repeatedly.

Technical and security information

Our systems and service providers may receive ordinary technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP address, device and browser information, request timestamps, and diagnostic logs. Eagle Lake 360 uses one-way hashed identifiers derived from network information and account identifiers to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse.

How we use information

  • Provide accounts, authentication, saved preferences, favorites, gameplay history, and statistics.
  • Operate leaderboards, streaks, game rules, and account moderation.
  • Review reports, correct map content, and respond to support requests.
  • Screen profile photos, names, and usernames for unsafe or abusive content.
  • Measure aggregate panorama engagement and improve the site.
  • Protect the service, enforce limits, investigate misuse, and maintain reliability.
  • Send necessary account emails, including verification and password-reset messages.

Information visible to others

Your username, profile photo or initials, leaderboard rank, and qualifying leaderboard results may be visible publicly. Your email address and display name are not shown on public leaderboards. Reports are visible to administrators, not other players.

Service providers and third parties

We use service providers only as needed to operate Eagle Lake 360. These currently include Supabase for authentication and database services, Cloudflare R2 for media storage and delivery, Google Maps for map features, Google Cloud Vision for profile-photo moderation, an email delivery provider for account messages, and the site’s hosting provider. These providers may process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

Google Maps is embedded in the site and may receive technical information directly from your browser when a map loads. Eagle Lake 360 does not disclose personal information to unrelated third parties except as described in this policy.

Cookies and browser storage

Authentication tokens and session information are stored by the authentication client so you can remain signed in. Local or session storage may also hold guest audio settings, panorama sensitivity, custom-game settings, tutorial status, temporary tutorial state, cached profile information, and local gameplay progress. The panorama-view cookie described above is HttpOnly, first-party, and short-lived. You can clear browser storage through your browser, though doing so may sign you out or reset local preferences and tutorial progress.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and gameplay information while your account remains active and for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and improve the service. You can delete your account from your account profile. Account deletion removes the active account and associated player data where supported, but limited moderation, security, reporting, administrative, backup, or legal records may remain when reasonably necessary. Aggregate panorama-view totals may remain because they are not tied to a player account.

Your choices

You may use the public map and game without an account, update your name, username, preferences, password, and profile photo through your account, remove saved favorites, or delete your account. You may also contact us to request help accessing, correcting, or deleting personal information. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Security

We use reasonable technical and administrative measures intended to protect information, including access controls, server-side credentials, restricted database permissions, signed media URLs, moderation, and rate limiting. No online system can guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

Eagle Lake 360 is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. Children under 13 may not create an account, upload a profile photo, or submit personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so it can be reviewed and removed as appropriate.

Policy changes

We may update this policy as the site changes. The effective date at the top will be revised when material updates are made. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
